Our non-profit is the world's oldest think tank dedicated to critical thinking. Our mission is to foster fairminded critical societies that value ethical rationality, open inquiry, and freedom of expression.
With respect to critical thinking, we have: founded the first-ever annual world conference on the subject (now beyond its 40th year); authored dozens of scholarly publications and hundreds of articles; conducted landmark research at all levels of education; and shipped millions of desk copies of our books and guides. These are mere examples of the scope of our work.
Historically, we have been funded by our own operations and through donations from the public. Although revenue shortfalls have forced us to allow advertising on our website, we allow no external influences on our scholarly work and mission. We have never and will never modify our work for the sake of “advertising friendliness” or other financial considerations. Your contributions to the Foundation for Critical Thinking support the following:
Our intellectual independence has never been, and will never be, for sale. We thank everyone who, through charitable contributions, make possible this movement toward fairminded critical societies.
We invite gifts and bequests of any kind. To gift upon your death, please email us.
