Reviews

Thanks to the Foundation, and especially, Richard Paul and Linda Elder for the fine new "Miniature Guide" on HOW TO IMPROVE STUDENT LEARNING. This is a really helpful set of practical ideas for teachers and a useful complement to the other "Miniature Guides." As an executive editor for THE CLEARING HOUSE, I review quite a few manuscripts on the art of teaching and have always found the Paul and Elder ideas as current and useful as any I run across. In fact, I invited them to write an article for a special theme issue on "Teaching Thinking" that I edited a few years ago, and their article on "The Role of Socratic Questioning in Thinking, Teaching, and Learning" was an excellent contribution to that theme issue. Again, please accept my thanks and congratulations for the latest "Miniature Guide" from Paul and Elder.
